Displayed in the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz Museum am Theaterplatz in Chemnitz, Germany will be large-format paintings by the internationally acclaimed artist Neo Rauch, from the years 2002-2012. Initially, 4 paintings will be presented, including the work SAL (2010) and 3 from 2012: Hohe Zeit (“High Time”), Der böse Kranke (“The Angry Invalid”) and Die Abwägung (“The Assessment”).

Neo Rauch was born in Leipzig, Germany, in 1960. He studied at the Leipziger Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst (Leipzig University for Graphics and Bookmaking) from 1981 – 1986, under the professor Arno Rink. From 2005 – 2009, Rauch was instituted as a professor of painting and graphics, and, since 2009, he has been an Honorary professor there.

Separate but concurrent is the Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz Museum am Theaterplatz’s exhibition “ROSA LOY. Gravitation,” which will run simultaneously as a part of the parallel exhibition program showcasing the artist-couple Rosa Loy and Neo Rauch together for the first time ever in Germany. Both exhibitions will run through February 17, 2013.
