Greek Man Arrested in 2012 Theft of Dalí Drawing at Venus Over Manhattan Gallery

Phivos Istavrioglou Arrested in New York, via the New York TimesThe NYPD has arrested Phivos Istavrioglou, the suspect in a daring 2012 theft of Salvador Dalí’s Cartel de Don Juan Tenorio from Venus Over Manhattan Gallery last year.  The suspect was identified after a routine check of fingerprints linked him to an earlier charge of shoplifting at a New York Whole Foods Market.  “It was almost surreal how this theft was committed,” said Cyrus R. Vance Jr., Manhattan’s district attorney. “Today’s indictment brings us one step closer to bringing an international art caper to a close.”
