Bloomberg has a piece this week on the market growth for contemporary black artists, including in its piece the news that MoMA has acquired Chris Ofili’s famous Holy Virgin Mary, from collector Steve Cohen. “Collectors are very interested in what artists of color have to say now,” says dealer Jack Shainman. “For many years it didn’t matter.”
