Julian Schnabel is interviewed in New York Magazine this week, as he prepares to roll out his new film on Vincent Van Gogh, and offers his takes on the artist’s singular personality. “I don’t think he was crazy at all, and these myths that have been propagated are a disservice,” he says. “[People] think artists have to be nuts to be good. If you really look at [van Gogh’s] paintings, they’re not the works of a madman.”
