The Supreme Court has sided with Germany in the Guelph Treasure case, refusing to require the country to return the artifacts under the conditions of the case. “A ‘taking of property’ could be ‘wrongful under international law’ only where a state deprived ‘an alien’ of property,” the Supreme Court said.
