New works by Piotr Janas are being displayed at Bortolami Gallery located at 510 West 25th, New York. Opening reception is tonight, January 10th, from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm.

For this latest group of works, the artist addresses the actions of scratching, pulling and prodding- as techniques that reveal something that lies beneath the surface and as actions that when done repeatedly and furiously leave wounds and gashes. The result is organic and visceral. The paintings are large scale representational works of unrecognizable scenarios.
This is the artist’s first New York solo exhibition. He currently lives and works in Warsaw and has had solo gallery shows there as well as Berlin and San Francisco.
