Auctions in London [New York Sun]
Twenty years after the historic sale of contemporary art held in Moscow in 1988, Simon de Pury will feature top works from the Russian region. The February 2008 sale at Phillips de Pury & Company will re-introduce many of the same artists that were sold at the prior auction but to a far more developed market for such works. Highlights of the sale include the top lot, an extraordinary work by Ilya Kabakov from 1982. The auction will display works from Simon Faibisovich, Oleg Vasiliev, as well as ” Road Accident” by Ivan Chuikov and “Griffin” painted in 1989 by Natalia Nesterova. The Russian Contemporary Art sale will be followed by the Contemporary Art Evening (evening and Russian Sales) at 7pm.
On February 29, Phillips the Pury & Company will follow up this sale with a sale of Contemporary Art.
