From March 27 through March 30, Pier 94 will host the Armory show in New York. While there will certainly be sales made, the Armory show will expand its offerings to panel of discussions, tours of the Whitney Biennial, visits to New York collectors’ homes, and cocktail parties, and other events throughout the city.

This year’s show is promising to be distinguished from previous years. The new owner of the Armory Show, Chicago-based Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. (MMPI), specifically envisions “Armory Week”  as a citywide event.
Christopher Kennedy (MMPI President), has stated he seeks to partner with all New York’s museums and galleries, as well as restaurants and the hospitality industry, to turn these five days in March “a destination-quality weekend to attract people from all over the world.” He said he would like to expand the Armory Show beyond Pier 94 and to “expand other fairs around the city.” The show already received strong sponsorship such as Mandarin Oriental and others. The development of the Armory show is at its very beginning.
