As a colossal fair, Art Basel encompasses many satellites and offshoots, namely Design Miami/Basel, Scope, Volta, and LISTE.  LISTE, now in its 17th installment, is a significant art fair in itself, showcasing a variety of up and coming galleries and artists.  This year, there are  22 countries and 64 galleries represented, 11 of which are immediately new to the art world. Congruently, all participating artists are under the age of 40.  Identified as “The Young Art Fair in Basel”, LISTE offers an excellent introductory opportunity to young, contemporary artists and galleries alike.
LISTE 17 began on Tuesday, June 12 and continues through Art Basel’s end on June 17.

The Performance Program supplements LISTE for its 8th consecutive year, this time curated by Zurich’s Burkhard Meltzer and entitled “If you give me stones, I’ll give you sand”.  The program will feature eight dancers, musicians, and other performance artists from across the globe.  The highlight among the special guests and appearances to LISTE is the collective Circuit – centre d’art contemporain of Lausanne.  The project spaces presenting are Kaskadenkondensator, Rotterdam based PrintRoom, and House of Electronic Arts Basel.
Nationale Suisse Insurance Company will also present its art prize, annually awarded to a Swiss art college graduate and including both a monetary component and a solo showing at LISTE. Â This year’s recipient is Kathrin Affentranger from the Bern University of the Art.
