Lucian Freud’s Work at National Portrait Gallery Analyzed by New York Review of Books

The New York Review of Books takes a closer look at Lucian Freud’s sketchbooks, unfinished paintings and smaller works, a selection of which are currently on view at the National Portrait Gallery in London, and traces the artist’s process in relation to his life and work.  The piece also reflects on Freud’s close relationship with the institution.
