Three quarters of artifacts seized in smuggling raids at the borders of Syria have been identified as fakes, Syria’s antiquities chief Maamoun Abdulkarim says, allaying some fears over illicit digging and sale of artifacts from the country by extremist groups.  “I hope the originals are stopped and the fakes go to the market place,†Abdulkarim says.Read more at Art Newspaper
