Closures continue this week over the coronavirus, as the National Gallery in London and the Tate announced full shutdowns for the coming weeks. “We will continue to monitor the situation closely and we look forward to welcoming visitors back to the galleries when we reopen” a statement by the Tate reads.
Also of note is the indefinite postponement of the Met Gala, which will wait until the museum reopens to plan its annual night of fashion and art. “In deference to [CDC] guidance, all programs and events through May 15 will be canceled or postponed,â€Â a statement from the museum reads.
In addition, Sotheby’s has rescheduled much of its spring sales calendar, and will begin closing the doors to offices around the world over Coronavirus concerns. “We are closely monitoring the advice of government and health authorities in the countries and cities where Sotheby’s is located and adjusting our business and operations accordingly,” a statement reads from the auction house. “The health and safety of our employees, clients and visitors is our first priority.
