Yvon Lambert gallery in Paris is presenting works by the German photographer Candida Höfer from March 8 through April 5. The show is entitled “Paris Serie” and features a large variety of indoor pictures of well known monuments such as the “Sorbonne” library, the “Théâtre de Marie Antoinette” in Versailles, the “Salle de Chasse” in Fontainebleau, the “Salle Pleyel” concert hall in Paris.

The artist lives and work in Cologne. Along with Andreas Gursky, Thomas Struth, Axel Hütte and Thomas Ruff, Candida Höfer belongs to the “objectivist paradigm movement”, also called the School of Düsseldorf. “Paris Serie†invites the viewer into different cultural and historical places, in Paris and around (Fontainebleau and Versailles).

The pictures have an imposing format and bring the traditional notion and perspective of “a picture as a windowâ€. The viewer has the impression of privileged solitude in these usually crowded places thanks to those pictures which represent those famous places empty.
