The New York Times profiles the use of the large-format Polaroid camera, a massive piece of equipment used heavily by Chuck Close, Robert Rauschenberg, and other, which is quickly on its way to obsolescence.  “Here’s yet another medium that will be lost to history, and it just shouldn’t be allowed to happen,” Close says. “If it does, I don’t know what I’m going to do, to tell you the truth. It’s so integrated into everything I do. I can always imagine what making a painting from one of those pictures will look like.â€
