At Sehested’s first solo show in New York, she focuses on seemingly common images, such as that of skin, a matchbook or a fluorescent lamp. By leading viewers to reexamine their more ingrained perceptions, Selesthed’s new collection of work proves both thought provoking and refreshing.

Sehested’s work will be exhibited until March 8th, followed by the latter three of four artists, Brina Thurston, Matthew Dipple and capped with Brendan Fowler. Founded in 2001 by Mirabelle Marden and Melissa Bent, and having moved to its current address in 2005, Rivington Arms remains a pioneer gallery on The Lower East Side of Manhattan.
