Go See: Gerhard Richter at National Art Museum, China through July 2

From May 15, until July 2nd, the National Art Museum of China is presenting a selection of works of Gerhard Richter painted between 1963 until 2007. The exhibition will show at least 56 paintings. Gerhard Richter is considered as one of the greatest and most expensive contemporary artist of his generation.

The exhibition represents an overview of “the comprehensive and multifaceted oeuvre” (artdaily) of the artist. Gerhard Richter himself chose the selection of works as well as organized their method of display in the exhibition. Richter, a German artist, was born in Dresden in 1932. For more than 40 years, his paintings have been showed in major art museums around the world. Some of the important restrospectives of Gerhard Richter are at the Museum of Modern Art, New York (2002) and at the K 20 Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Düsseldorf (2005).

Gerhard Richter has won many awards through the years: the Praemium Imperiale (1997) in Tokyo and the State Prize of the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia (2000).
