Joseph Beuys, the infamous postwar German artist (1921 – 1986) made his first visit to the United States in 1974 and was known for his performances, sculptures, prints, posters, and drawings. Jack Hanley Gallery is showing 33 signed posters from the height of Beauys’s career. This collection gives viewers a glimpse of the many faces of Beauys’s career.

The outspoken, political, and seemingly controversial artist, Joseph Beuys, was a member of the international Fluxus movement and was widely recognized among the art world during his career. During his lifetime he represented Germany of the Venice Biennale in 1976 and again in 1980, and was also honored with a retrospective at the Guggenheim New York in 1979.
