The 60th International Art Exhibition, known as the Venice Biennale, is set to run from April 20 to November 24, 2024. This year’s theme, “Stranieri Ovunque” or “Foreigners Everywhere,” is curated by Adriano Pedrosa, marking a significant milestone as the first South American curator of the Biennale Arte. The event is hosted at Venice’s historic Giardini and Arsenale venues, which have been central to the Biennale since its earliest editions. The theme explores the concepts of intersectionality, displacement, and the reevaluation of geographical margins in the art world.

Jules de Balincourt (born 1972 in Paris) is a French painter. He was educated at the California College of Arts and Crafts, San Francisco receiving a BFA (1998) and went on to study at the Hunter College, New York graduating in 2005 with an MFA. He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. He uses stencils, tape, knives and spray paint in the style of Outsider art.

De Balincourt founded the alternative art space Starr Space (formerly known as Starr Street Projects) in Brooklyn, NY. “Currently the space is used for dance and music performances, screenings, figure drawing, yoga, fundraisers and local church parties, and is constantly looking to expand in programming. “The future of the space, with hope, will encompass even more diverse happenings, leading to a regular congregation that reflects the quickening evolvement of the neighborhood.
