White Cube is one of the most successful commercial galleries in London, and the world. It is owned and run by art dealer heavyweight Jay Jopling. The gallery began in a small square room in Hoxton (now known as the heartland of conceptual art) with the unorthodox rule of only exhibiting every artist once.

White Cube is one of several galleries that developed alongside the rise of the Young British Artists.

The gallery moved to a larger space in 2000 and further expanded the space by hoisting a prefabricated unit on top of the existing structure.
