Ann Freedman Reaches Settlement in Another Knoedler Forgery Lawsuit

Ann Freedman, former director of the Knoedler gallery, has settled another of the 10 cases against her for selling forged works, reaching an agreement with collector Frank Fertitta, owner of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.  This case is the eighth to reach a settlement. (more…)

Ann Freedman to Settle in Case Over Forged Rothko

Ann Freedman has reached a settlement in her $8.4 million case over the sale of a forged Mark Rothko.  Freedman will still testify as part of the case against the Knoedler Gallery.  “From the very beginning of these cases, Ann never wanted to keep a penny of the profits she made” says Lawyer Luke Nikas.  (more…)

Ann Freedman Lawsuits Set to Go to Trial This January

A New York judge has ruled that the lawsuits against Knoedler Gallery’s Ann Freedman will come to court this coming January, denying a motion by the former gallery director’s president to dismiss the case.  “Plaintiffs have offered ample circumstantial evidence demonstrating that Freedman acted with fraudulent intent and understood that the Rosales Paintings were not authentic,” Judge Paul G. Gardephe of United States District Court in Manhattan wrote. (more…)

A new complaint in the lawsuit against Knoedler Gallery is being brought by Domenico De Sole, chairman of Tom Ford International, and his wife, Eleanore. The defendants are Michael Hammer (chairman of the former Knoedler Gallery), Ann Freedman (a former director), and Glafira Rosales and partners (Rosales was a dealer in Sands Point, Long Island who consigned artworks to Knoedler). The plaintiffs are one of 3 parties who claim that the gallery sold fakes. The combined total of the damages being sought by the 3 groups of plaintiffs in the suit is more than $70 million. (more…)
