New York Court Preserves Auction Sellers’ Option for Anonymity

A court ruling by the New York State Supreme Court has maintained a seller’s ability to remain anonymous during the proceedings of an art auction, The New York Times reports.  The ruling preserves the current state of auction dealings, and was a unanimous decision. (more…)

For the past month, Interstate Gallery in Bushwick has acted as the first physical base for Richard, a predominantly Internet-focused catalog of objects and items centered around new possibilities and interpretations of the readymade art object in the 21st century.  Turning the work of Marcel Duchamp once more towards a populist, group project, Richard challenges the concepts of labor and potentials for the the readymade in new perspectives of art practice and conceptual operation.

New Yorker Revives Apology Line

The Apology Line, a confessional telephone art project that enabled callers to phone in and confess their misgivings and misdeeds, has been revived in New York City.  Originally created by artist Allan Bridge, the project fell silent after Bridge was killed in a boating accident.  But recently, posters have reappeared across the city, thanks to the efforts of an anonymous Brooklyn artist.  “A voice inside of me said there’s no reason that the line had to die just because Allan died,” the unknown artist said in an interview with the NY Times. “It’s an outlet, and some people need that outlet.” (more…)

Miami’s Perez Museum Gets Anonymous $15 Million Gift

The future Pérez Art Museum Miami has received a large contribution from an anonymous donor, the museum announced this week.  The donation will see the museum getting $12 Million in cash, and $3 Million in art.  “I can say almost nothing about it except that I’m thrilled,” said Museum Director Thom Collins.
