Last week, the ever-shifting collective Bruce High Quality Foundation kicked off its annual fall fundraiser in style, opening the doors at Industry City in South Brooklyn for an evening of performances, music, and art, including a new show of works by the artists who have long remained focused expressly on the Bruce High-Quality Foundation University, a free, experimental art school in the East Village. BHQFU Announces Major Exhibition and Fundraiser for November 5th

The Bruce High Quality Foundation University has announced a joint fundraiser and art exhibition for next week, titled Arcadia, and featuring an impressive lineup of performers including Francis and the Lights, and LE1F, and a body of work inspired by painter Nicholas Poussin, as well as a new entry in the Absolut Art Bar series, designed by Bruce High Quality Foundation.  The party and opening takes place on Nov. 5th. Shrouded in anonymity, the Bruce High Quality Foundation has made a career for themselves out of playful irreverence.  Rising out of the post-9/11 New York art scene, the anonymous collective has launched a campaign of physical aggression against public installations (Public Art Tackle), initiated their own free education classes, staged socio-politically charged morality plays on gentrification, all under the guise of a production of the Broadway musical Cats, all alongside a number of pieces and installations that embrace the juxtaposition of art history, pop culture and contemporary society to “invest the experience of public space with wonder.”

In keeping with their aspirations to “invest the experience of public space with wonder,” The Bruce High Quality Foundation is currently exhibiting Art History With Labor in New York’s Lever House Art Collection through September 28th. The exhibit consists of three pieces on display in the open-air courtyard and the glass-walled lobby of the Lever House.
