French Art Center The Maeght Foundation Falls on Hard Times
Thursday, July 24th, 2014 The Economist reports that the Maeght Foundation, home to 12,000 works of art, including pieces by Georges Braques, Joan Mirò, and Alexander Calder, is struggling to make ends meet after fifty years. In hopes of attracting revenue, the Foundation plans to build a new wing while Olivier Kaeppelin, the Foundation’s director, wants to create an addition if controversial boost through the sale of pieces from the valuable collection.
