Currently on view at Galerie Eva Presenhuber, Zurich, is a comprehensive solo exhibition of work by Eva Rothschild, her third exhibition at the gallery.  Entitled Narcissus, the show features a body of experimental sculptures, combining freestanding and wall-mounted forms, Rothschild appears to be formulating a new vocabulary of sculptural shapes. While similarities can be seen between Rothchild’s site-specific series Sightings at the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas in 2012, the works currently on view delve deeper into the possibilities of shape and media. In the works, Rothschild employs the use of wood, leather and other woven textiles to incorporate complex details into the larger more bold forms.

Bent (Why Horses Paint), is a selection  of new works by multimedia artist Alex Hubbard, and his first solo show with Galerie Eva Presenhuber in the gallery’s Löwenbräu complex exhibition space. Hubbard’s paintings move beyond the medium’s traditional two dimensional form, bending into shapes and structures which often seek complete autonomy from the wall.

Galerie Eva Presenhuber hosts a new group of work by Liam Gillick in the exhibition Scorpion or Felix. Taking its name from a text by Karl Marx—of which only fragments have survived—the show features three central figures, Scorpio, Felix, and Merten, with smaller works in ink, writing on the wall, and colorful sliding doors. Gillick has been creating text-based works and objects dealing with the built environment since the late 1980s, challenging the interpretation of constructed spaces, “establishing relationships based sometimes on attraction, sometimes on repulsion.”
