Art in General Leaving its Home of 34 Years

Downtown non-profit Art in General has decided not to renew its lease for the Soho/Tribeca space it has occupied for the last 34 years.  “We’ve occupied the space for quite some time,” board president Robert Ferguson says. “Our lease is now coming to an end in December of this year, and we’ve decided to embark on the process of finding a new space.” (more…)

Sotheby’s Looks to Sell its Uptown Building

Sotheby’s has placed its York Ave. Headquarters on the Upper East Side of Manhattan up for sale, sources report.  The auction house will be looking to potentially lease back the building for the time being, as it looks to readdress its current home.  “Given the location of our building, the current real estate market, the unsolicited interest we’ve received in our property and our responsibility to our shareholders, we are exploring our options,” Sotheby’s spokesman Andrew Gully said.
