Mark di Suvero’s Work Profiled in Paris Review

Sculptor Mark di Suvero is the subject of a thorough profile in the Paris Review this week, which explores his evolving aesthetic sensibility, and his realization of systemic relations between his works when shown together.  “They had resonance between them,” he says of seeing a large selection of his works at the Storm King Sculpture Center.  “Suddenly, there was this kind of family grouping.” (more…)

Mark di Suvero is an American abstract expressionist sculptor that often works in kinetics, incorporating dynamic movements to add an element of illusive grace to his monumental sculptures. Continuing his exhibition partnership with Paula Cooper Gallery in New York, the artist is currently exhibiting a new sculpture, Little Dancer, as well as a number of other works in both sculpture and canvas.

Mark di Suvero Awarded Gold Medal by American Academy of Arts and Letters

Artist Mark di Suvero has been awarded a gold medal by the American Academy of Arts and Letters, alongside writer E.L. Doctorow, and honorary inductee Bob Dylan.  The 100-year old award is given to two American citizens each year, rotating every six years between a pair of artistic disciplines.  Past sculpture nominees have included Martin Puryear, Richard Serra and Louise Bourgeois.
