On view at Gagosian Gallery’s Paris exhibition space are two exhibitions entitled “Prints and Photographs” and “Books & Co.,” organized by Gagosian director Bob Monk to explore the innovation and legacy of Ed Ruscha across a range of printed media.

Ed Ruscha Preps Cactus Omelette for London Festival

Ed Ruscha is bringing his Cactus Omelette recipe to the Barbican this year, serving up portions of the recipe to festival-goers at London’s installation of Doug Aitken’s Station to Station project.  “It’s essentially an artwork, says curator Leila Hasham. “It’s edible cactus art.” (more…)

French Filmmaker to Search for Hidden Ruscha Sculpture

French filmmaker Pierre Bismuth is going in search of a long-forgotten sculpture by Ed Ruscha, a fake rock that was created and then abandoned in the Mojave desert.  The work, titled Rocky II, does not have a confirmed location, but Bismuth is determined to locate it, and has launched a crowdfunding campaign to fund the completion of the film.  “We will answer the questions ‘Where is this rock?’ ‘Why is it hidden?’ and ‘What is there to hide?'” says Bismuth. Ed Ruscha Featured in NOWNESS Series “Getting There”

Ed Ruscha is featured on NOWNESS today, part of the publication’s Getting There series, in which artists take an interviewer on a drive through a certain area.  For this edition, Ruscha drove interviewer Matthew Donaldson through his home city of Los Angeles, charting the shifting landscapes and sounds of the California city.  “More than the changes of Los Angeles, I notice when things don’t change,” he says. On view at Gagosian Gallery in New York is a survey of prints and rarely seen photographs produced by Ed Ruscha from 1959 until the present. The exhibition was organized by Gagosian’s director Bob Monk, and will remain on view through July 11, 2014.
