Rob Pruitt is back at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise this month, bringing a diverse and somewhat scrambled show of new works to the New York gallery, including a set of graffitied furniture pieces, a set of enormous minimalist prints, and as well as sculptural and painted works that deliver Pruitt’s iconic, tongue-in-cheek renegade style through a broad scope of material form. James Franco to host Televised Art Series

This fall Ovation, the arts-themed cable network, will debut James Franco Presents, a series focused on the artistic works and interests of actor and artist James Franco.  The series will give viewers “an unprecedented look at the fascinating projects and real life adventures of James Franco.”  The network said in a statement.  “From his gallery exhibits to his students’ films, the innovative series will also provide an exclusive opportunity to hear Mr. Franco’s point of view on his most-personal passion projects, most of which have not been seen by the public.” (more…)

Damien Hirst Announces Complete Catalog of Spot Paintings

British artist Damien Hirst has announced that he will release a complete catalog documenting over 1,400 “spot paintings” that the artist has done over the past 27 years.  The artist’s highly controversial series, consisting of rows of multi-colored dots and usually painted by his assistants, has occasionally irked collectors and followers, despite claims that “every single spot painting contains my eye, my hand and my heart”.  He says.
