Settlement Reached in Cy Twombly Foundation Lawsuit

The ongoing dispute between two members of the Cy Twombly Foundation appears to have reached a settlement, the New York Times reports.  Twombly Foundation President Nicola Del Roscio and Vice President Julie Sylvester had filed suit accusing fellow director Thomas Saliba and lawyer Ralph Lerner of valuing several Twombly works (held in their own trust) at a highly inflated $1 billion.  The settlement terms, while not all stated, involved Salbia and Lerner resigning their positions in the Foundation. Richard Prince Settles Copyright Case Over “Canal Zone” Works

Artist Richard Prince and photographer Patrick Cariou have reportedly settled their case over Prince’s alleged copyright infringement, The New York Times reports.  Prince, who had won a landmark “fair-use” ruling on a majority of the works in question (his Canal Zone series) last year, has settled the case in undisclosed terms, but court documents have indicated that he will not be forced to destroy the works in question. After 14 Years, La Miroiterie in Paris Faces Shutdown

La Miroiterie, a long-running artist’s settlement and squat in the Parisian neighborhood of Ménilmontant is facing eviction from the development company that owns the abandoned mirror factory.  Founded in 1999, the space has a reputation as fiercely independent, and avoided working with the Parisian government to legitimize the space.  “The City Council has always respected and admired what was done at La Miroiterie, but we never supported them” financially “because they never wished for their project to be institutionalized,” said a spokesman for the Paris city council. Gagosian and Jan Cowles Reportedly Settle Lawsuit

Dealer Larry Gagosian and collector Jan Cowles have reportedly settled their disagreement over the 1964 Roy Lichtenstein work Girl in Mirror.  The news was broken by Wall Street Journal reporter Kelly Crow on her Twitter account this morning.  A full report has yet to be released, so the details of the settlement has yet to be released.
