Sotheby’s concluded its Impressionist  & Modern day sale today, with a sale total (including buyer’s premium) of $39,910,775. The auction house sold 73% of lots in the morning session and 62% in the afternoon session.

The sale featured several modern masterworks from a series of prominent private collections, including Henry Moore’s Working Model for Thin Reclining Figure, estimated at $500,000 – 700,000 and sold for $602,500; Marc Chagall’s Les amoureux à Paris, estimated at $500,000 -700,000 and sold for $602,500; and Odilon Redon’s Pavots et oeillets de poète dans un vase bleu, estimated at $400,000 – 600,000 and sold for $482,500.

Highlights of the sale include Buste de Diego, an oil painting by Alberto Giacometti from the Estate of Elizabeth Green Romano, which sold for $734,500 (estimated at $1,000,000 – 1,500,000); and Joán Miró’s Femme et oiseau devant la lune, estimated at $500,000 – 700,000 and sold for $590,500, from the Collection of Mrs. Nelson A. Rockefeller.
