On Tuesday December 11th, The Whitney Museum of American Art hosted its annual Gala and Studio Party, sponsored by Microsoft and Pamella Roland. Originally scheduled to take place at Hudson River Park’s Pier 57 on October 30th, the annual events were postponed due to Hurricane Sandy. With more than $2.7 Million raised Tuesday evening, a portion of which will be donated to the New York Foundation for the Arts Emergency Relief Fund.


Atmosphere

Art world guests included: MoMA PS1 Director Klaus Biesenbach, gallerist Mary Boone, collector Richard Chang, collector Beth Rudin DeWoody, collector Glenn Fuhrman, artist Glenn Ligon, gallerist Max Levai (of Marlborough Gallery), Former Armory Show Director Paul Morris, artist Tony Oursler, Creative Time’s President Anne Pasternak, Whitney curator Scott Rothkopf, artist Andres Serrano, Studio Party co-chairs Michael Avedon, collector Jon Neidich, artist KAWS and DJ sets by artist Nate Lowman.

Apart from the incredible music, Studio Party attendees experienced Microsoft’s new Windows 8 interactive tablet touch screens featuring the new Fresh Paint app. Additionally, a temporary photobooth allowed guests to take snap themselves and then be displayed in the living gallery installation, created out of Surface tablets.
