A piece in Bloomberg this week estimates that the show of Jean-Michel Basquiat works on view currently at the Brant Foundation includes arguably up to $1 billion in value. “He’s had such a meteoric rise, very much a Van Gogh figure,” Brant says of the artist. “How often do you have an artist who produces this kind of work in his 20s?”
