A painting of the Madonna and child attributed as “close to Raphael†has sold for €1.27m in Vienna, Art Newspaper reports, more than three times its estimate. The sales comes after one historian speculated the work was perhaps by the artist himself. “We think this probably made the work even more interesting,†says Doris Krumpl, a spokeswoman for Dorotheum, where the work was sold.
