A piece in Popular Mechanics this week charts the challenges and issues with maintaining pieces of avant-garde work, and early techonologically-driven pieces. “The first person was hired to do something like this in 2005,†says Glenn Wharton, a time-based media conservator at MoMA. “Now there are about a dozen. I think we need about 100. There’s a huge need, and it’s growing fast.â€
