Hernan Bas's 'The Conceptualists' at The Bas

Hernan Bas’s recent works, particularly his series “The Conceptualists,” showcase his continued exploration into the realms of queerness, desire, the occult, and the absurd. This series, which was inspired by the unique hobbies and activities people engaged in during the pandemic, involves the creation of fictitious conceptual artists engaged in eccentric behaviors. These characters are depicted doing bizarre things, which Bas labels as activities of conceptual artists, humorously challenging the boundaries and perceptions of conceptual art itself.

Art Basel Miami Preview 2023

Art Basel Miami Beach 2023 is currently taking place from December 8 to December 10, 2023, at the Miami Beach Convention Center. This edition features 277 international galleries, with a notable presence from North and Latin America, including 25 galleries participating for the first time. The event includes different sectors such as the Meridians, dedicated to large-scale artworks, and the Kabinett, with curated installations. Additionally, the Conversations program offers live debates on art and culture, with a focus on Latin America. The fair also collaborates with various institutions and collections for events across Miami Beach.

British Museum to Digitize Collection

Following a string of controversial thefts, the British Museum has announced ambitious plans to digitize its collection. “Following the discovery that objects have been stolen from the collection, we have taken steps to improve security and are now confident that a theft of this kind can never happen again,” says interim director Mark Jones. “It is my belief that the single most important response to the thefts is to increase access, because the better a collection is known – and the more it is used – the sooner any absences are noticed.”
