Anish Kapoor Kicks Off Versailles Installation with Controversial New Sculpture

Anish Kapoor has opened his new installation of works at Versailles to controversy this week, after the artist noted his new work Dirty Corner, as a reference to the sexual organs of Queen Marie Antoinette as she rose to power.  “I know it is a composition, but let’s say that this is ruining the perspective that visitors of the castle may have,” says retired professor Pierre Dhainaut. Christie’s Prepares for First Auction in India

Christie’s is preparing for its first sale in India next week, pulling heavily from the collection of the late Mumbai-based curator Kekoo Gandhy and his wife, Khorshed Gandhy.  The works include a number of high-profile Indian artists, including Ram Kumar and Syed Haider Raza. (more…)
