Armory Show Announces 2013 Exhibitor List

The Armory Show, in the centennial year of its namesake exhibition, announced its list of new and returning visitors for 2013. It will present over 200 galleries from 30 countries at its fifteenth edition from March 7-10th, 2013. The Contemporary section on Pier 94 will house both blue-chip exhibitors and younger galleries, and Pier 92 will again be a showcase for Modern work. Liz Magic Laser has been named the Armory Artist Commission, and Eric Shiner, Director of the Warhol Museum, will curate Armory Focus: USA. (more…)

Armory’s Creative Director Leaves Fair to Accept Position at Hauser & Wirth

The Armory Show’s creative director, Michael Hall, has taken a position at Hauser & Wirth. Hall’s involvement ranged from the Armory’s Open Forum and Armory Film programs to the “Armory Focus” sections; he also took part in the selection of commissioned artists such as Theaster Gates and Liz Magic Laser. The co-founder and former director, Paul Morris, resigned in September after an 18-year tenure with the fair. It was reported by Art In America earlier this year that The Armory Show’s parent company, Merchandise Mart Properties,  may be  in negotiations to sell it along with the Volta Show and Art Platform Los Angeles(more…)

Liz Magic Laser has been chosen as the commissioned artist for the 2013 edition of The Armory Show, which celebrates the centennial year of its namesake exhibition of 1913. Laser’s performance and theatrical work has been presented at the Malmö Konsthall, the Performa 11 Biennial, The Kitchen and MoMA PS1. Laser will help create the visual identity of the 2013 fair, which takes place from March 7–10th, 2013. (more…)
