In Love is Enough at Modern Art Oxford, artist Jeremy Deller brings together the work of William Morris and Andy Warhol, two renowned artists from vastly disparate eras who served as something of artistic icons of their respective generations.  Drawing on a uniquely perceptive appreciation of both artists, Deller has created a seamless installation that shows a conversation across centuries over the accessibility of art and its purpose in countering the harshness of industrialism. Oxford – Barbara Kruger at Modern Art Oxford Through August 31st, 2014

On view at Modern Art Oxford through August 31st is a major solo exhibition of recent work by American conceptual artist Barbara Kruger. Kruger, who is best known for her paste-up works, black-and-white photographs with declarative phrases in bold letters laid on top, has created a site-specific architectural wrap of the museum’s Upper gallery space in a similar style.

‪‬Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum seeks to raise £7.83 million to stop Edouard Manet’s Portrait of Mademoiselle Claus (1868) from being sold to a foreign private collector at £28.35 million. The Ashmolean has until August before the work is required to be sent overseas, but will send the painting on a British tour if they raise the money from philanthropists and foundations.
