Lisson Gallery Artists Intervene in Frieze London Proceedings

In the run-up to Frieze Art Week, Lisson Gallery has installed a series of posters on the walls of the London Tube station near Regent’s Park, featuring texts designed by artists Ryan Gander and Cory Arcangel.  The work is part of a broader series of projects by Arcangel, Gander and Joyce Pensato at the fair who “are intervening and disrupting the [Frieze] stand through installation, performance and collaboration—manipulating how the public interact with works and staff members, who will be sporting custom-made shoes, suits and other wearable works of art,” according to the gallery press release. 15 for 150: Art on the Underground’s New Series

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Tube, Art on the Underground has invited 15 innovative contemporary artists from across the globe to produce limited-edition posters. Each image will present a different perspective on the London Tube, and hence create a vibrant narrative of the world’s first underground network. Artists involved include Gillian Wearing, Sarah Lucas and Wolfgang Tillmans. (more…)
