Silicon Vallery Contemporary Opens This Week

The Silicon Valley Contemporary Art Fair opens this week, marking the first major art fair in the region, and the first concerted effort by the broader art market to cater to the new wealthy class of the U.S. tech sector.  The fair features over 1,000 on sale from over 300 artist, valued at over $100 million, and will feature a program of tech and performance centered works from artists like Marina Abramovic. Hammer Museum Names Artists for 2014 “Made in L.A.” Biennial

The Hammer Museum has named its list of artists for Made in L.A., which will open in June.  The list of 35 artists participating in the exhibition include Piero Golia, Tony Greene, Wu Tsang, and project space Public Fiction.     (more…)

Blum and Poe Looks for Move to New York City

West Coast art dealer Blum and Poe has begun its search for a gallery space in New York City, which is intended to “focus on our artists who currently do not have representation in New York, in addition to very specific projects, both historical and otherwise,” says co-owner Tim Blum.  The gallery is currently based in Los Angeles, and will look to open by August.
