The New York Times looks at the appeal of Jean-Michel Basquiat’s work, and the factors that have contributed to his work achieving such high prices in past years.  “As the market was accelerating, you had distinguished connoisseurs of modern art who had no hesitation about putting Basquiat beside Picasso,†says Jeffrey Deitch. “Already he was in a different league than almost any other contemporary artist.â€
