The Hirshhorn has acquired artist Ragnar Kjartansson’s long-running Me and My Mother series, which includes footage of the artist being spit on repeatedly by his mother. The museum also acquired pieces by Shirin Neshat, Deb Sokolow, and Mika Tajima, among others.
