Portrait of Queen Defaced at Westminster Abbey

A 41-year old man has been arrested in London under suspicion of defacing a portrait of the Queen at Westminster Abbey.  The work, done by artist Ralph Heimans, went on view in May, and was commissioned to celebrate her diamond jubilee last year.  “In an incident at lunchtime today, a visitor to the abbey sprayed paint on the Ralph Heimans portrait of the Queen presently on display in the Chapter House. Until work can be done to remedy the damage it will, very regrettably, not be possible to have the painting on public view.”  The abbey said in a statement.Read more at The Guardian
